Yaakov and Julie Kaplan are amongst the founders of the Albert and Temmy Latner Forest Hill Jewish Centre. They have worked tirelessly from inception to facilitate its  ongoing growth and success.



In 1989 newly married, Yaakov and Julie moved to Thornhill to live close to Yaakov's grandparents, Joseph and Faye Tanenbaum. There, they were instrumental in the growth of the BAYT community and establishment Ohr Somayach. The Kaplan's continue to be strong advocates for Ohr Somayach both here in Toronto and Israel. Most recently charing the building committee of the new Forest Hill Jewish Centre. 



Julie is known for her whole hearted commitment to Bikur Cholim. She is a regular volunteer at her children's schools and founded a Friday hockey league, so boys could have a regular healthy experience in a Jewish environment. As a partner in Torah, kallah teacher and budding Shadchan, Julie constantly strives to increase her contributions to the community.



Yaakov is a grandson of Joseph and Faye Tanenbaum. He plays a central role in his grandparents’ legacy -The Tanenbaum Charitable Foundation. The Foundation focuses on the improvement of Jewish education in Canada and abroad.



He is the Chairman of Terra Firma Capital Corporation, the President and founder of Runnymede Investment Inc. and principal of several real estate firms in the GTA.  



Yaakov and Julie are blessed with many children and grandchildren from whom they have much nachas k"h.
