Boris Serebryany was born on October 15, 1952 in Omsk as the youngest of three children. Shortly afterwards, when Boris was two, the family journeyed to Lithuania where he met Rita. In 1974 they welcomed their daughter Carmela. In 1981, Boris left the former Soviet Union to move to Toronto, Canada with his family. Even though he had been an engineer in Lithuania, Boris worked multiple jobs, such as a pizza delivery man, furniture mover and bakery truck driver to provide for his family. In 1989, Boris Serebryany joined his partner Alex Garber at Fiera Foods. Together, they have built their company into one of the leading bakeries in North America which together with an allied group of companies employs over 2000 workers across five manufacturing facilities located across the GTA. Fiera Foods supplies a variety of bagels, breads and pastries to grocery stores and food service restaurants across North America and the world. Fiera is the largest producer of croissants in North America. Boris is very active in the community and is involved with organizations like Humber River Hospital Foundation, Jewish Russian Community Centre, St. Michael's Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. Throughout his career Boris as received numerous awards including the Ontario Exporter of the Year award (2012), and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). He was also recognized in 2013 by the Honourable Gary Goodyear, former Minister of State for Economic Development, for Fiera Foods's many contributions to manufacturing in Ontario. Boris is a committed grandfather to two beautiful grandchildren, Eliana and Joshua.

Rita Serebryany was born in Vilnius Lithuania in May 1952. She was always driven and ambitious and in 1974 graduated from the Vilnius University majoring in Mathematics. Rita married Boris Serebryany in April 1971. In 1979, Rita and Boris's daughter Carmela was born. In 1981, the young couple and their daughter immigrated to Canada. After arriving in Canada in 1981, Rita proceeded to take English lessons and submitted her educational qualifications to the University of Toronto. After the exceptional successful completion of testing, she was provided with a Master Degree in Mathematics. Rita found her first job with Rogers as an Information Technology Programmer/Analyst, followed by increasing managerial positions at National Trust, Crown Life, and the Metro Toronto Police Department. She played a vital role in the implementation of the 911 and MDT systems in the Toronto Police Department. She left the Metro Toronto Police in 1999 and ventured out to start her own business, Information Technology Consulting. Currently, Rita is managing this successful company, and actively involved with a number of charities. She is on the Board of Directors of Beit Halochem Canada. She has contributed to numerous causes including the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, Humber River Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Jewish Russian Community. Rita is a committed grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, Eliana and Joshua.
